Latte macha and strawberries Ingredients
Matcha
In beverages, I always, always recommend using ceremonial grade matcha powder. You can use culinary grade matcha powder, but it is less concentrated and has an entirely different flavour and colour. Ceremonial grade matcha has a rich, vibrant green colour, is significantly more fragrant, and tastes naturally fresher and sweeter.
Milk
Dairy milk, plant-based milks, or nut milks can all be used. Oat milk is my particular favourite since it’s slightly thicker and naturally sweeter, resulting in a creamy latte, and the flavour pairs so beautifully with matcha.
Sweetener
Because liquid sweeteners like agave nectar, honey, and simple syrup blend readily with matcha, they work best. Granulated sugar can also be used, but make sure it dissolves completely. Adjust the sweetness to your liking. Strawberries – You may use either fresh or frozen strawberries; both work well. Allow them to defrost in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for 30 minutes to 1 hour before blending if using frozen.
Heavy cream
The heavy cream in the strawberry sweet cream makes a significant difference in the cream’s consistency. When combined, the extra portion of ordinary milk stops it from turning into whipped cream. For a plant-based version, froth canned coconut milk or ordinary plant-based milk well in a blender.
How to prepare latte macha and strawberries
Sift matcha powder into a small bowl. Pour in hot water and rapidly whisk with a bamboo whisk or milk frother until the top is somewhat frothy. While the mixture is still heated, stir in the sweetener. Fill a glass halfway with ice. Add the milk and matcha. To blend, stir everything together. Blend strawberries, heavy cream, milk, and sweetener in a small bullet blender for 5-10 seconds, or until the consistency resembles melting ice cream. Pour over the matcha latte and gently swirl to merge the layers into a gradient.
Properties of Macha Tea

You’ll have more energy than with other teas.
According to Gorham, matcha powder has almost three times the caffeine of other forms of brewed teas. Per cup, black tea has 47 mg of caffeine, green tea contains 28 mg, and matcha contains 70 mg of caffeine. That’s roughly the same as—or slightly less than—a cup of coffee, which has around 96 mg of caffeine per cup (given that different coffees have different levels of caffeine)
It has the potential to greatly increase your productivity.
In a 2017 study published in Food Research International, people who drank matcha (rather than regular green tea!) experienced a slight increase in attention and processing speed an hour later, most likely due to a unique combination of L-theanine, a major potentially energy-boosting polyphenol called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), and caffeine.
Matcha may help prevent cancer.
While there is no particular research showing matcha powder’s anti-cancer effects, experts have been studying green tea as a category for years. Previous research has connected the strong antioxidant EGCG to cancer prevention and cell growth inhibition in colon cancer. Another research suggests that green tea may be useful in cancer prevention when used with anticancer medications. The magic compound is EGCG, which may suppress cancer cell proliferation by destroying malignant cells.
